What People Are Saying

I found that I really enjoyed the trekking itself — the physicality, the silence. I generally hiked without conversation, in part because it was hard for me to speak and I really needed to focus on the physical exertion within each step. It also allowed me to stop and look around and take in the beauty of my surroundings. Some moments that stand out were conversations and experiences at the tea houses. I remember a significant conversation in Ghandruk where I met 4 army men traveling together who had just met each other in Pokhara. They had a natural bond between them because of their army experience and all being Gorkas. Also in Ghandruk was the experience of watching our porters cook the nettle soup. They were elated to be able to cook their own soup and share it.

I enjoyed the other group members, despite our vast differences. This is part of group trips that I enjoy. Where else in our lives can we meet and spend intense time with those whom we may never otherwise meet?  Lastly, but perhaps more importantly, I felt that the guide and his team were the right people for the job! It was such a pleasure to get to know them and to support his local venture. We couldn’t have been better taken care of — from airport pick-ups and drop-offs (each person individually!) to tea and food orders to information and guiding, to finding other local excellent guides,  to showing genuine love and respect. The guide gets an A+  And, of course, I never would have ventured into this part of the world without YOU, Doris. Your inspiring weekly emails built up over time until I realized this is the person with whom I want to travel!  I’ve been describing you to others as this fit, powerful, knowledgeable, positive, and an energizer-bunny who never quits! Thank you! Thank you!” MJ, Nepal/Bhutan 2024 Trekker

“I never knew Moroccan hotels provide slippers—beautiful, handmade slippers for you to borrow and use during your stay. Most of them also provide some type of shawl. I’ve travelled to about 30 different countries and I’ve never experienced such a thing before. These are the things you get the pleasure of experiencing when you sign up for one of Doris’ trips. I’m an impatient, somewhat selfish person so when I considered signing up for one of Doris’ group trips I had to decide if I was capable of group travel. I braced myself and took the plunge. Yes, you’re with a group. Yes, people will be late at times and want to do things you won’t want to do. But Doris’ trips will push you into new, glorious experiences. I was shocked at how easy it all was. We went to a new hotel every night but it didn’t feel overwhelming. We absolutely scoured the country of Morocco. From conquering the Atlas Mountains, to staying in both quaint and luxury hotels, to offering food to Nomadic children pulling their lifelong possessions behind them on donkeys as we drove from one remote village to another. We experienced true Moroccan culture.

The food, the sites, the new friends as relationships bloomed with fellow Doris Yoga-worshipers. Not only did my body “hold up” on this trip, but daily Doris Yoga had us all flourishing. And it was incredible to see my body responding to the consistency of daily sessions. Each movement would lock in within seconds as opposed to minutes that would sometimes drag on like hours in my mind at home. I’m a 42 year old woman and my body has been to hell and back as a former pro snowboarder. Thanks to Doris I crushed those Atlas Mountains with a 30+ pound pack on my back (my choice, as there were mules available to carry the load).

Would I sign up for another of Doris’ trips? To that question I answer with a resounding yes! This trip reminded me of my strength. It solidified my appreciation to be an American. The gratitude I felt abroad has come home with me in a way that has strengthened my relationships with my friends, family and most importantly, with myself. Because whatever it is you think you can, can’t, should or shouldn’t do…just take one look at Doris leaping and bounding like a gazelle in the final descent of our Atlas Mountains climb and you realize this woman not only walks her talk, she defies age and gravity. And she’ll teach you how to do the same.” Candice, Morocco 2024 Trekker

“Hey Doris, I can’t thank you enough for taking me along on an adventure of a lifetime! I had Morocco on my vision board and you helped make it a reality. I absolutely loved the country, culture and landscape. Everything was organized so well and we were able to accomplish trekking, yoga, sightseeing and traveling! The accommodations we stayed at were such a gem of a place, boutique hotels. Your network of people really knew the insides of Morocco and guided us all along the way.

Thank you for being patient and compassionate in every situation and becoming my strongest support system all along the trip. Your energy and vitality is unmatched and your ability to motivate and keep us all glued together made the trip even more memorable. The friendships I have made on the trip will be cherished! For someone who comes from a conservative background like me, this trip had the right mix of adventure and safety woven in. It really helped me open myself to new possibilities and all that credit goes to you!” Veena, Morocco 2024 Trekker

“I had a wonderful time with Doris and our trip buddies. Combining yoga and trekking in Morocco is an unforgettable experience. Imagine sunrise yoga sessions amidst the majestic Atlas Mountains, followed by exhilarating hikes through valleys and Berber villages. In the evenings, relax in cozy riads and savor delicious Moroccan cuisine. Not to mention riding a camel in the Sahara Desert to our glamping station. This unique adventure offers a chance to challenge myself  physically, reconnect with nature, and unwind in a stunning setting. Doris and the guides took really good care of us. Will definitely join Doris again for other adventures in the future.” Risa, Morocco 2024 Trekker

“This is a very unique experience. It’s my first time in Nepal. There were many worries and uncertainties before going. However, when we practiced yoga for the first time in the morning and witnessed the sunrise gradually turning the Annapurna South mountain into a golden hue, the awe and excitement were indescribable.

Doris combines yoga with trekking, and it has to be said that yoga training tailored for trekking has been beneficial for us. It helps reduce the risk of knee and ankle injuries during climbs and ascends, and the grips assist us in relaxing and maintaining balance.

The most surprising aspect of the entire trip was that both the accommodation and food exceeded our expectations! The team including the guides and porters were incredible and provided attentive service! This was a perfect and truly unforgettable journey of a lifetime!”  Ying, Nepal 2023 Trekker

“Nepal Nepal.. a dream since I was in my late 20th and became reality last year in my mid-70th.

The experience was beyond what I had in mind. I would not have made it if I wasn’t in the physical shape I am today thanks to Doris’s almost daily training . The feeling of achievement every day after these long and challenging hikes was rewarding and reassuring of what we can accomplish when we take care of ourselves mentally and physically.

Nepal teaches us that we need very few things to be happy. The energy is fantastic.. the views as you hike makes one forgets of what’s ahead… steps, steps and more steps. Furthermore, along the path you come across so many happy children coming out of school smiling and asking for chocolate, and working people who teach you about hardships and resilience.

I highly recommend this trip! I still visualize our early morning routines with Doris and the Himalayan mountain in front of me, still dreaming..” Francina, Nepal 2023 Trekker
